RVT Process Equipment GmbH supplies the following tray types in plastic:
- Sieve trays
- Dual-flow trays
- tunnel trays
The sieve trays are very cost-competitive mass transfer trays. The operating range of these sieve perforated trays is less than that of valve trays.
The tunnel tray type is mainly used for applications with low liquid loadings, liquid sealings, well proven in acid recovery specifications and in cases where there a stable liquid holdup is required.
- Application for low liquid loadings
- Liquid sealed
- Well proven in acid recovery applications
- Mainly applied when a steady liquid hold up is required.
Applications and properties of the plastics for trays:
| Designation | Properties | Resistance to | Upper working temperature |
|---|---|---|---|
| PVC | hard and stiff thermoplastic, used at moderate temperatures | Alkalis, acids, salt solutions, oils, greases, petrol, aliphatic hydrocarbons | approx. + 60°C |
| PE | tough, firm plastic, also used at minus temperatures, low water absorption | Alkalis, acids, salt solutions, many organic solvents like alcohols, ketones, ester | approx. +60°C |
| PP | hardness and stiffness higher than PE, but inadequate toughness at low temperatures, higher operating temperature than PE | Alkalis, acids, salt solutions we well as many organic solvents like alcohols, ketones, ester | approx. +80°C |
| PVDF | Fluoride-containing thermoplast, good resistance to heat and cold | Alkalis, acids, salt solutions, many organic solvents like alcohols ketones, esters, nitric acid, H2O2 | approx. +120°C |
| PTFE | very good ability to withstand temperature, stiffness values reduced, high creep tendency | almost all chemicals | approx. +180°C |
| TFM | very good ability to withstand temperature, stiffness values reduced, high creep tendency, weldable | almost all chemicals | approx. +180°C |
